Carrs Farm is a nature friendly farm and bunkhouse in the North Pennines National Park, producing beef as sustainably as we know how.
Bunkhouse
A Stone Built 18th Century Cattle Barn
The Bunkhouse is a stone built 18th Century cattle barn that has been converted into a hostel that sleeps 21 people, with space for them all to relax. It is ideal for groups looking to explore the Pennines, or those looking for a remote place to celebrate.
At £30 per person per night, it is a brilliant option for families or groups looking for a more reasonable alternative when visiting the North East.
Electricity comes from a wind turbine, with heating provided by solar panels backed up by a wood burning boiler. This helps us to be as sustainable as we can.
The Beef
Carrs Farm White Galloway Cattle
These are the cows. They are the hardest working members of the team at Carrs Farm. Although they don’t have qualifications, they are our ecosystem engineers, supporting fertility in the soil, encouraging biodiversity and creating habitat for the birds and the bugs.
Grass fed, permanently outdoors, in the sort of climate that White Galloway cattle love, their meat is delicious. If you are interested in buying any beef, send an email, and when there is some for sale, we will get in touch.
Our Location
The North Pennines National Landscape
Carrs Farm is situated in the North Pennines National Landscape, and is one field away from Bollihope Fell, an enormous area of managed wilderness.
There are countless attractions, natural and manmade, in the area, from the museums of Barnard Castle and Bishop Auckland to the waterfalls at High Force or Ramsgill. Carrs Farm would be an excellent base from which to explore the wonders of the North.
